An Appeal to Our Past Players and Club Members

An Appeal to Our Past Players and Club Members

Rob Ward

Help Fakenham rugby club survive

Dear Past Players, Former Members and Friends of Fakenham Rugby Club,

Fakenham Rugby Club has a long history, built on the dedication, passion and commitment of the people who have worn the shirt, represented the club and helped make it what it is today.

Whether you played for the first team, turned out for the seconds, coached, volunteered behind the scenes, sponsored the club or simply spent years supporting from the touchline or the bar, you have all played a part in our story.

Now, we need your help to shape its future.

Like many grassroots rugby clubs, Fakenham relies heavily on a small number of people to keep everything running. From the playing side and coaching to administration, fundraising, events, sponsorship and general club operations, there is a huge amount of work that goes on behind the scenes to ensure rugby continues to be played at our club.

The reality is that we need more people to get involved.

We are appealing to past players and former club members to consider coming forward and offering their time, experience or skills to support the club. You don’t need to commit every evening or weekend, and you certainly don’t need to have played rugby recently. Whether you can offer a few hours a month, help organise an event, support a particular role or take on a more regular responsibility, every contribution makes a difference.

There is plenty of positive momentum at Fakenham Rugby Club. Our minis and youth section is growing, bringing more young players and families into the club and helping to build a strong foundation for the future. At senior level, we now have more registered players than at any point in the last ten years. This is a hugely encouraging sign and reflects the hard work of our players, coaches, volunteers and supporters.

We have a fantastic opportunity to build on this progress. We want to continue providing rugby for our senior players, developing our youth and minis sections, strengthening our social side and ensuring the club remains a place where people of all ages can come together.

But to do that, we need more people willing to stand up and help.

This is about more than rugby. It’s about protecting a club that has given so much to so many people over the years. It’s about making sure the next generation has the same opportunities, friendships and memories that previous generations have enjoyed.

If Fakenham Rugby Club has ever meant something to you, we are asking you to consider giving a little something back.

Please get in touch if you would be interested in helping, whether you have a particular role in mind or simply want to find out where you could make a difference. There is no pressure to commit to anything straight away; we would just welcome a conversation.

Please also share this appeal with former teammates, old friends and anyone you know who has been part of the club over the years.

The future of Fakenham Rugby Club depends on all of us, and together we can ensure it continues to thrive for many years to come.

Once a Fakenham player, always part of the Fakenham family.

Thank you for taking the time to read this, and hopefully we will see some familiar faces coming forward to help us take the club into its next chapter.

Kind regards,

FRUFC management committee
