The Barbarians started their league campaign with a trip to Crusaders to take on their 2nd XV. After a good warm up win last week, they were looking to take that form into the fixture on an unseasonably warm Saturday in September.

The away side did just that, scoring twice in the first ten minutes, with fly half Tom Bane-Young converting one to take a twelve point lead.

Crusaders soon fired back with a converted try of their own to cut the deficit, although it wasn't long before the Barbarians scored another unconverted try to extend their lead.

Another unconverted try for the away side on the stroke of half time left the score 7 - 22 at the break.

The Barbarians started the second half as they had the first, scoring a converted try in the first five minutes. Another unconverted try followed ten minutes later as the away side took control of the game.

Crusaders kept fighting and scored their second converted try of the game, to make it 14 - 34.

However it was the Barbarians that had the final say, scoring another try that Bane-Young converted, before he kicked a penalty to leave it 14 - 44 at the final whistle.

A great result on the road from this new side as they look to go from strength to strength.

Tries were scored by Lewys Hutchings, Jamie Steer, Phil Gent, Tom Bane-Young and a hat trick for Sam Freeman.

The Man of the Match went to Fakenham President Rob Ward, showing he's still got it on the pitch.

Next week sees the Barbarians travel to West Norfolk to take on their second XV. Any travelling support would be much appreciated.
