The Fakenham 2nd XV made its long awaited return after a six year hiatus in a local derby fixture, travelling to Bridge Road to take on Holt 3rd XV.

The first scorer of Fakenham's return was El Presidente Rob Ward, with Tom Bane-Young adding the conversion.

Holt then took control with three tries, one of which was converted, to lead 17 - 7 at half time.

Fakenham fought back after the break, as Ward got his second converted try, before Tom Bane-Young scored two tries of his own, converting one.

Two unconverted Holt tries then sandwiched an unconverted try for Fakenham's Josh Gee as the game stayed close, with Fakenham holding a 4 point advantage at this stage, 27 - 31.

The away side then extended their lead as they finished the game the stronger of the two sides. Gee scored once more, with Tom Bane-Young adding the extras.

Finally, Fakenham's Jacob Skipper scored a try that he converted himself.

The final whistle went with the score 27 - 45, an impressive win for Fakenham's 2nd XV on their return to action.

The Barsham Brewery Man of the Match went to Gareth Williams in his first game since 2009.

Next week sees the 1st XV back in league action, travelling to Cambridge to take on Cantabrigian in what will be a tough challenge. Any travelling support would be much appreciated.
