Tough decision taken to suspend walking rugby

A meeting with the current crop of regulars was held this evening (30th September) and we reluctantly decided to suspend our weekly sessions until next year. Since we restarted walking rugby after lockdown the numbers have varied from week to week with a much smaller pool of regulars and it has become obvious that the numbers are no longer sufficient to guarantee a good attendance/game of rugby each week.

I feel sure that the combination of Covid-19, the demographics of the group and the current s****y weather has all contributed to the fall off in numbers.

We are determined to restart as soon as is practicable. This will be on the basis of a combination of:

The start of the lighter nights at the beginning of April
A slackening of Covid’s grip
A willingness to attend from members of the group

I hope by then we can have a launch much as we did for 1st May 2019 with plenty of publicity and razzmatazz.

In the interim please keep in touch either by e-mail for WhatsApp, and above all keep safe.
